What's going around? Does anyone else have a stomach bug?

It's the "back-to-school" onslaught of germs. Seems like everyone I know with school-age kids is home with them.

Yep, oldest youngest came home one day last week after being sick at school, and our oldest missed two days last week due to cold-like symptoms...

I don't even have kids and have been coughing up a lung for 2 weeks. Granted, I am around kids every once in a while...but still. It needs to go away...like yesterday.

But no, no stomach problems, just a horrible sore throat.

OH YES! Raba Elementary (Westover Hills area) over here--daughter came home last Wednesday with one heck of a nasty rotavirus or norovirus. Coming out both ends. Fabulous! And guess what? Mommy got it over Labor Day weekend and spent Saturday and Sunday in bed in South Padre! I'm telling you, I was miserable for two days!

The problem with spreading so rapidly in school seems to be that with these types of viruses, in children, they're still shedding the virus even when they are seemingly feeling better, so they're still extremely contagious without any symptoms left. Adults not so much...but school-age kids--yep. So if your kid feels better the next day--keep them home anyway.

Our whole house has the flu. We were sick all weekend, and still are. Johnson Ranch ES had 5 kids throw up in one day in my daughter's classroom. I'm not sure about the rest of the school. This flu has it coming out both ends......at the same time........it's awful!!! My husband has a cold, I hope he doesn't get this flu too.

I called both kids in sick today (Johnson ranch, and Smithson Valley MS) the front desks did not question or act surprised when I said they had the flu. I think it's wide spread. I noticed that it was slim pickings on the anti-dirrahea shelf at the Bulverde HEB yesterday! I got the last bottle of Immodium. AND...the Immodium did not work!!!!!!
