My daughter is a freshmen at UTSA and lives on campus with 3 roommates. There are two campuses. She is residing at the campus off of 1604. She is very happy there. There have been many activities for the students and she has only been there for 3 weeks.

As the parent, I have been there several times. It is a very nice campus (1604) and I was very impressed with all staff and volunteers that have helped the freshmen with the transition.

I have no problem recommending UTSA.

Allison

I agree. I think a lot of people that denegrate UTSA (or SA for that matter a lot of times) are doing so based on what was true (or what they believed to be true) a decade or more ago. Things change, and in this city, things have changed a lot in a short span of time. Some people just have a hard time grasping that reality.

One thing that people seem to not be mentioning, is how the Professors are.

As a UTSA student, let me just say that UTSA has among the most passionate and helpful professors ever. Also, UTSA has done an excellent job in helping students via SI's(supplemental instructors, who have study sessions at least 2-3 times a week) and they have an excellent Writing Center, etc. UTSA has one of the highest ratings in the nation in terms of satisfaction with Professors. This should play a major implication in deciding what Uni you want to attend. Having great, solid, passionate professor's is the key to making your money worth it!

Also, if you want to go to a nice, urbanized campus, UTSA is renowned. Very nice campus. Very clean. Cold. (lol) And I promise you will enjoy your student housing. I was stuck between TX State and UTSA, but TX State has disgusting dorms. They are sickening. My friend doesn't even have AC in her dorm because the others filled up quickly. UTSA on the other hand has different options(for everyone, including freshman.) You can get an apartment, semi-private apartment, or a dorm.

Party-wise... I have found some legit parties. There was a foam party and a blacklight party these past two weekends, both which were tooo fun. Lol but it all depends on who you talk to and hang out with. Some people party all the time, some smoke weed, some do nothing! Of course, it all just depends on who you meet.

I love UTSA but maybe those other universities may be better for you. It is different for everyone which is why it is good to inquire these things and ask around

I'm so glad that you're having a good and rewarding time at UTSA, Austownian. I'm especially happy that you find the professors so accommodating.

Please continue to spread the good word about our school!
