Austin is indeed ranked higher than San Antonio when it comes to income per capita. Austin simply has a larger number of its population apart of the labor force than that of San Antonio. This makes perfect sense why Austin would have a higher income per capita.

The higher cost of living, especially for real estate would be the big factor in why Austin GDP is comprable to San Antonio's.

Well that still further proves that getting an education does pay off. If more people in San Antonio got some kind of post-secondary education, we would be even better off.
