I'm sure it happens every campaign, every year - vandalism of campaign signs goes on everywhere. But driving around the north central side of town today it seems that I noticed that it seems that specific candidates' signs were slashed in half just about every time I saw them. The one candidate that I recall off the top of my head with lots of signs cut in half is Massarat Ali's signs. While I do not plan on voting for him (primarily because of his strong anti-toll road position), and I definitely *hate* the proliferation of campaign sign spammage, vandalism of one candidate's signs is just plain dirty pool. Anyone else noticing lots of slashed signs, or am I just imagining things?

Honestly, with all the campaign signs littering the landscape, I can almost understand why people are taking to vandalizing them! The damn things should be illegal, as with all these other small signs that politicians, home builders, "buy your house cheap" businesses, etc. placed in or within view of the public right-of-way.

Honestly, if they can't afford to advertise via a billboard or other accepted means, then they shouldn't be allowed. Not that I like billboards either, but at least they aren't as ugly as all the crap along the roadways!

So I haven't noticed any specific signs being attacked; as I try to tune them out as I go down the road.

Cheers! M2

Side note - every time I see one of Vavuzela's signs (they're everywhere) I think of these

A sign with her blowing on one would be awesome.

There are a ton of slashed signs, and they're all republican ones. The democrat ones aren't touched. Sad that politics has come to that.

The aforementioned Ali is a Democrat. I was noticing after seeing this story on the news that I have yet to see any signs slashed here in North Central SA. Signs here are about 80% Republican.

Drive up and down 1604. All the republican signs from Redland on up to 10 are trashed.

I always pull them up, if they are on public property. This is regardless of who it is for.

Who appointed you the decision maker on this? Why do you feel it's your right to steal other peoples' property? Regardless of party.

The property owner could have given the party permisson to put the signs up. Now you're the vandal.

That being said here's an article about signs in SA from last month.

Election signs serious business

That is why I said public property (property owned by the state/city). In these places they do not have permission to place signs; (City code Section 28-111, Article IV). I would never do this on someone’s private property. I just think they are tacky and I would like to keep my neighborhood clear of them. (I need to stop using my phone keypad)
