Okay....so am I the only one here that looks at the new recycling containers for the City of New Braunfels, and wonders just what the blazes the City was thinking?!?? These things are HUGE - about 3' x 30+" - yeah, almost NINE SQUARE FEET of floor space - the same size as the trash cans!

They just did what the city of San Antonio did. The 95 gallon carts seem to be the new industry standard. The fact that it will take a month to fill up (with actual recycling material) doesn't seem to matter.

No city ordnance that I'm aware of, but your HOA (if you have one) may have restrictions.

No city ordnance, and frankly I'd hope it won't come to that. What they DO need, though, is some kind of educational effort to let folks' know that leaving trash cans in the driveway is unsightly and rude to the neighbors.

The rules state the following but unsure how enforceable these rules are and they also seem not written well:

This is good news that more areas in the region are turning to recycling. It is also likely those who are into consuming/recycling will fill up theirs as we do ours already.

We try hard to minimize any trash - always have. Not to do with any "earth" type movements, but because to me trash means I'm throwing something away - and throwing something away usually means throwing out something we spent money on, and are therefore wasting! You know us tightwad Germans.....

FWIW, if the list of items that are recyclable is the same as San Antonio's, you'll probably find each week that your recycle bin is more full than your trash bin. I could never imagine that until we got our bins.

Meh... we have been recycling up in Canada for years with the same
size of bins for both recycling and trash.
Once you get into the recycling you will find as much and sometimes
more goes into that bin than your trash bin.

I figured this, which was why I added 'consuming', and well if you consume less and make less waste that is actually more helpful to the environment. Buying so many disposable products all take vast amounts of water to produce to begin with so is quite wasteful.
My guess is you make plenty of homemade meals and maybe even hunt your own food lol well maybe not always but minimizing trash is better than producing it.
