Just to clear it up, there WAS a "sonic boom" on Friday thanks to an F-18 during show practice on Friday. My dad was flying in the show and they brought it up during the Saturday morning brief. I was not at the brief, so this is all second hand.

Of course him and every other business or home owner who files a legitimate claim with the military will receive compensation over this incident. It is also doubtful the military will deny any claim merely based on assumptions or especially the appearance of the claimants or any stereotypes one might have of residents near the base.

It is peanuts what they will pay for this. Unfortunately the military might not be doing enough when it comes to higher cancer or leukemia rates in the area. It is easier to blame it on tortillas because that will not be peanuts when it comes to claims.

My advice is not to drink the water if you work on base, near it, or live in the area.

I call BS. That would have made the news. Some news, somewhere. That isnt the kind of thing you can hide.

Over the years, it has happened from time to time. no matter where it happened it was on the news all over the country.

Some posts above were deleted. Let's stick to discussing the air show in this thread. If you want to discuss other aspects of Lackland or Kelly, start another thread or revive an old thread.

Air boss? Care to explain/clarify who that is? I've heard that term used on carriers, but not at Air Force air shows...

I was working on Lackland Friday, and the plane in question flew directly over me while I was outside when it made the suspected sonic boom. It was loud, rattled windows, set off car alarms, but was not breaking the sound barrier causing a sonic boom. I have heard and witnessed many sonic booms in my time in the Navy, and this was not one. Being so low, close overhead, using afterburners etc, can make you think it was..

An aerial choreographer. We get 'em on movie sets (Pearl Harbor, etc), too.

All air shows have an air boss coordinating everything.

Someone's information in not correct.

Think about it, something that is illegal, something that makes national news when it happens, something you cant hide, in a major metro area and you had many....many people watching the practice.

Chances are, given all those facts, it didnt happen.
