How about people just plain littering out of there cars. One time I was driving down Bandera and I stopped at a light. This guy next to me, did not look very neat by the way, starts emptying an entire big bag of chips out the window.

The next time I was driving on 1604 and this guy in that passenger's seat starts emptying this big drink of soda out the window. In fact he doesn't just empty it, he practically threw all the drink out, aiming for the car in front of me. Why do people do this stuff? Can't wait to get home or to a destination to throw it out?

The last 4 times I went to the McDonald's just up the road here I, because I really didn't want to be a rude jerk to the workers there, literally waited maybe at least *15 minutes* {after I paid my hard-earned money, of course, just to solely-buy a large chocolate shake. That's all; no food at all} until someone who worked there finally came back to me and said: "Sir, I'm sorry but our milkshake machine is down right now.".....oh, yeah. As if *my* time is not important.....so I don't go there anymore.....and my uncle doesn't go there anymore either because they have also done the same to him a few times too.......

Actually, Jack in the Box and Whataburger have pretty good shakes. As, of course, does DQ

Floyd's Dairy Bar on the southeast side is a family owned joint, walk up no drive through old shabby wierd looking place THE BEST MILK SHAKES & MALTS ever. If you ever happen to be out on this side of town (its not far from Brooks City base) go there.

Floyd's has old time shakes with pieces of ice in it. Chester's does too off of 410 and N New Braunfels.

Does anyone know the history of Floyd's? The family? My sister swears she has heard them speak some other language.

As kids we would hide in the car so no one could see us if they drove by because everyone was embarrassed and you would get made fun of at school. I don't know, their burgers taste good to me now, weird how kids are...as if McDonald's was better.

I think it's the original owner's daughter that's always at Floyds. I knew the Dad, but didn't know much about the family. And they spoke perfect English. I ate there all the time in the 60's and 70's and never was embarrassed and was never made fun of at school.

Within .5 mile of each other it was either Floyds, the first and original Bill Millers, Taco Hut, lunch counter in Highland Hills Pharmacy, Shakey's, or El Rancho. Further away, there was Podnuh's, Frontier, Brown's Mexican Food, Bob's Smokehouse and Reubens tamales. And there was Luby's and lunch counters in Neisner's, Woolworths and Sommers Drug Store in McCreless mall and older than that there was the Highland(or maybe Highlander) Cafeteria in McCreless Village.

Even after the construction on 410 (the area roughly from San Pedro to I-35) the speed limit is still 60mph! 5 lanes and only 60??

Gotta agree with that,
but keep in mind that there's a lot of "ups & downs"
and a funnel before Starcrest that makes the highway go from 5 lanes to 3 lanes in 1/2 mile.
