Default Wyandoke

(CRUD! I can't edit the subject line and just noticed my typo! <extremely embarrased face!>)

Cool! So if I buy that house we'll be neighbors, huh? Nah, seriously, don't see it happenin' right now, but it did look like that house had potential, esp for the the price/size. I kinda got the same impressions just from the pics that your gf got...kinda gloomy. But maybe with a little work..... I thought the location looked kinda fab, too. But dang! That West Nile death was from your neighborhood?!! Better use your bug spray! And you ought to be on a mission to recruit all your fellow MCM fanatics to buy all those places that'll be comin' up for sale in the next few years so you don't have any more teardown horrors!

And yeah, I use the "MLS" on mysa now, too. But I got spoiled on the real thing, so now this is kinda like MLS Lite!

Hey googie, it looks like that house didn't sell last year. It was listed for sale and for rent. It was rented, not sold. It is currently up for rent as well again. ($1600/month) interesting........

Maybe it's haunted (Amityville, anyone)? OR maybe one of those houses where some horrific crime occured? I believe real estate agents must disclose that info to potential buyers? I may be wrong, I just gleamed that from some Chuck Palahniuk novel years ago (NOT the best source for factual information ). It is though a good spot I think, one house down from a really cool O'Neil Ford (AGAIN - we have three Ford's in BM, all documented, not like my earlier screw-up with the fake Ford in Monticello Park, ugh, embaressing) house, very shaded with that big ol' lot, etc.

Oh yeah, that West Nile death was on W. Hathaway (some ol' gal named Ms. Buckley) she was quite elderly I was told, weak immune system, etc. - but evidentally that virus ain't no biggie if you're in decent shape and not too old or too young, like a flu pretty much from what I Googled - BUT they had some goverment dudes (Metro Health is what the neighbor said) spraying the neighborhood, not once, but twice! I bet you can get THAT house for a good price when it goes on the market !

Talking Haunted? Maaaybe!

That pic of the family room (the one with saltillo looking tile) looks like something out of a haunted house (sorta dungeon like)! Regarding disclosure; Section 1101.556 of the Texas Real Estate License Act releases a seller or seller's agent from the duty to disclose information related to whether a death by natural causes, suicide, or accident unrelated to the condition of the property occured on the property. However, conditions related to any stigma attached to the property would have to be disclosed (murder must be disclosed by law, molestation on the property or a reputation for being haunted should be disclosed). (This is all from my notes from "Principles of RE", have never had the occurance to use it. )

And yeah, I actually kinda payed attention to the West Nile thing a bit. My 8 year old was pretty sick with flu like symptoms right after that and the doctor wanted her tested for WN. Scared the crap outta me! Fortunately all tests came back fine! But I read in the story of the older lady that Texas Blood & Tissue found like 9 pints of blood that were infected with WN. Guess you can be infected and still be fine.......

oh, sending you a dm about your house.....

Oh yeah, heads up, there's an estate sale in Bel Meade in an O'Neil Ford house (114 W. Brandon Drive) today and tomorrow. So if you wanna peek into an authentic mid-century Ford, this is your chance. I already scoured it for mid-century stuff this morning, zip in that dept., the ol' fella that owned it had a 60's Asian theme going. It's pretty run down though, and one of Ford's smaller houses, but man, possibilties abound with the joint! The new owner is super-cool as well, a musician who sought the place out to renovate and preserve it to it's former self, which is GREAT news (no Home Depot "re-muddle" here, folks).

To the moderater, this is NOT an ad for the sale, just a shout-out to fellow "MCM'ers" who wanna see a Ford MCM house (a rare treat) up close.

Okay, FINALLY, here are a few Oak Hills (and surrounding area) pics I think are pretty cool, mostly early 60's stuff (there are more homes like these, I was just kinda hungry, getting grumpy, and semi-rushed through the hood that day):

...first my fave, what we've dubbed "the Asian Spaceship from Star Trek:"

...then we have the "60's Hipster Dentists Office," cool door, eh?

...I LOVE this door (and house) as well:

...here's my vet's house (seriously), a cool 60's Asian-Modern Hollywood Hills-look pad straight outta some Russ Meyer flick - it's very difficult to get a decent pic of, it's almost completely obscured by the landscaping, but in "real life," oh man!:

...this recently sold, construction work is being done on it - I HOPE they're MCM enthusiasts!

...here's a few more, sans commentary:

...now, this MCM is REALLY cool, but whoever bought it put in an out-of-place lookin' driveway, I mean limestone on a MCM? Really tough to get a good pic too, perched atop a small hill of sorts.
