Wish I knew how to post a picture because a really cool 1930 art deco house is for sale for $299 on Mulberry (I think) in the Jefferson area. You can't miss it because of the color (yellow/orange). It is on MLS in the Monticello Park neighborhood on mysa.com.

But still, an amazing, amazing MCM masterpiece (also quite cool, the house uses some sort of large stone blocks in lieu of bricks, something I've never seen, almost like the house was built of raw marble)!

We looked at the house in Oak Hills. It is ALL original, but in pretty bad shape. The block is giant cut limestone. The owner had the original blueprints, and also the original 60's builder brochure for the house, which is pretty retro-sweet. The floors are terrazzo. The view in the back looking up at the house is incredible. It sits on 2 lots - almost a full acre.
I'd say you'd be looking at at LEAST hundred thousand or more to reno it properly, (kitchen and baths would have to be gutted) but it would be "glossy color spread in Atomic Ranch mag" material if you did.

Unfortunately, when things are rare, you pay a premium.

No that is not the one...this one is even COOLER!
Go to any site and look up 2201 W. Mulberry St. It is the $299K price tag and looks worth EVERY penny!!!
If you are allowed to place the MLS # (obviously not a link...it got deleted) then the MLS # to look up is MLS#: 743453
Wish I was in the market...what a GREAT house!

My hubby is going to die when I tell him about this. When he lived in SA, some 20 years ago, his family lived on a rough street in a poor neighborhood. They were so poor that nuns brought free food in 5 gallon buckets twice a week. And what was the name of this poor, uninteresting street reserved for the poor folk? W. Mulberry. Crazy!

Yes, that is the house on Mulberry Paka, thanks for the pix. The lap pool and jacuzzi are new plus the coy pond. There is a casita in back. It was built by Max Frederick. I think there were only 3 or 4 owners and the present owners have taken good care of the home. It doesn't have a bathtub or a garage though but it is really unique and well maintained.

Check this one out. It's a little far away (NZ I think) but it's cool. If you click on the big picture it opens larger. Open2view - Property ID# 173002
