I like Taco Port on Ramsey by the airport, as well as Taco Taco Cafe at the corner of McCullough and Hildebrandt (the original Panchitos location, actually). Taco Taco's Taco Norteno was one of the winners of the "Tacos You Must Eat Before You Die" cover story in Texas Monthly a few months ago. It's so good.

I also like Rolandos, but dear God, the tacos are as big as your head.

You stated that you live near 410 and Marbach. Although I wouldn't say that it is the best, I would go with "Apetitos" right off of Marbach road. It is near a Churches Fried Chicken (inside Loop 410).
If you are willing to travel a little further, I would highly recommend "Taco House" on San Pedro (inside Loop 410), the food is authentic and very reasonable. This is a Cash Only spot. I don't think that you will be disappointed. My husband loves the Carne Guisada, and I like the Barbacoa Tacos.

Taco Haven on South Presa near Carolina, just south of downtown (that's why it's called Southtown). It's the best Mexican food overall, in my opinion of course.

Ahh I miss SA, Rolandos Super Tacos is awsome too, I think it's off of Hildebrand on the west side.

Aguas Calientes (sp??) has good tacos. There is one by Hills and Dales on 1604 across from UTSA, I can't think of the exit. There is also a #2 location on Calaghan between Ingram and Bandera Rd.
Actually, all of their food is really good. If you go at lunch time you will have to wait for a table.

Based on all the suggestions I'm wondering are there any taco places to avoid?

Taco Bell should be avoided obviously.

Taco Cabana.

Sadly, it hasn't always been this way. They used to be really good.

I second that delsuburban1......Actually Apetitos to me is pretty good. Their flour and corn tortillas are freshly made and are awesome! There tacos are very tasty. My brother lives in CA and is coming down at the end of the month and is already saying "I'm going to Apetitos for breakfast!" The rest of the food is really good too. Just go down Marbach inside Loop 410 as delsuburban said and keep going for two lights and turn left right at the Church's Fried Chicken. It is on the left side up ahead. Enjoy!

This thread cracks me up. I'm from San Angelo, my girlfriend is from San Antonio. Here we call them breakfast burritos, she calls them breakfast tacos. Breakfast taco just feels wrong to say. And all of what I've seen in both cities are burritos, because they are rolled/folded up. Yet I can't convince her to call them by their true name, breakfast burrito.
