Thank you for your responses. And no I'm not thinking of shooting on my property. I enjoy clay and skeet Just thought i'd throw that out there as something to narrow down locations in case there was a range in an area worth considering. You are right majormadmax it's just a hobby.

Horse property is common in East Central area inside 1604, China Grove is real nice. We have two golf courses within 10 miles of the area & you can shoot in our area if you have sufficient property not to disturb your neighbors.

skeet is at:
Bexar Community Shooting Range
15391 Bexar Bowling, Marion, TX 78124-6601
(830) 914-2182 ‎
which is not too far & is a nice country drive from our area.
We are not well situated for shopping if you are a retail enthusiast but you can be downtown within 20 minutes because our traffic is not nearly as bad as the NW side.

Bexar Community Shooting Range is an excellent range.

The East Central area is also going to be more affordable than Fair Oaks Ranch.

Just wanted to add that the East Central area might be one of the few areas where there are horses but you are only minutes way from the city. I love the fact that I can drive within ten minutes from an inner-city environment to end up driving past someone's property that has horses on it visible from the road.

City Base Landing and other shopping developments that have Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Chili's, and Target are not so far from the whole East Central/China Grove area. Though I do see more country folk, lots of John Deere gear, both for sale and being worn, as far as the logo, at the Wal-Mart on Rigsby.

So if you want to live near the city that would be one of the best bets. On the other hand if you wish to live even farther away it might not be ideal.

What I do like about san antonio is that it's not really a suburban city(very few suburbs, alot of the area outside of the city limits is still considered to be san antonio). I just went there this summer for the first time in seven years. There's alot of country area there, unfortunately I cannot suggest names b/c I'm not familiar w/ the city. I'm considering living there in the future myself b/c it's such a nice area.
