local youtube singer Alyssa Bernal gets a record deal
I had no idea who she was until I saw the band Lifehouse tweet about her. She covered one of their songs. She's also went on tour with them and Kris Allen. Alyssa even has a song with the lead singer Jason Wade of Lifehouse on her album. How cool is that a local girl got discovered by Pharrell Williams and signed to Interscope records.

Not familiar with her music but if Pharrell picked her up then she must have talent! Good for her!

I saw her story on the news a couple of months ago. It is cool. There haven't been too many pop/hip hop/r&b artists coming out of San Antonio. Actually, I can't think of one that has gotten play nationally. Maybe someone else knows.

I know right, surprising Pharrell found her. I've been watching her old videos and she has really good vocals. I like her r&b stuff!

Pharrell Williams is a really great producer; he's a part of "The Neptunes," and they have scored some big hits in the past decade.
The biggest hit ever was probably Britney's "I'm a Slave 4 U." Not that I like her or anything as I believe she is very overrated.
Gwen Steafani (who is 100 times better than Britney) had her song, "Wind it up," produced by The Neptunes which of course Pharrell Williams is a part of. I like that song!
