Moving to San Antonio in September. See apartments in Castle Hills, Balcone Heights, Leon Valley and around Lackland Air Force Base that look nice - and price is right. Would these be good parts of town? Johnny

Castle Hills will be the nicest if your outside Loop 410. It also depends a lot on your price range.

Those are all well established areas, so you'll have properties with some age on them. Apartment hunting is deceiving......you'll have good and bad properties in all those areas. I have learned from experience that the only way to judge is an onsite visit. Some apartments allow will reserve an apartment for you with a deposit, but release you if your onsite visit proves to be less than you expected.

There are some web sites to rate complexes, but they don't always reflect the truth......either someone is bitter or they have management post praises. You never can tell!

Throw some apartment names out there and someone might know something about them!

I wouldn't recommend any apartments near those areas that are inside (south) of loop 410. Not unless you don't mind older complexes. The one exception might be Lincoln Green on Jackson-Keller, which is inside 410.

I agree - stay outside the loop in those areas. We live outside the loop in the Castle Hills area and we LOVE our neck of the woods.
