Hey guys I'm getting ready to purchase my car next week. I've already received some quotes, and tried to check as many reviews on dealerships as best i could. Are there any notable reputable mazda dealerships here that don't play silly games and have great sales/service?

Thanks in advance!
-mike

I bought a Mazda four years ago. I went to Legend, World Car, and North Park. I spoke to IPAC over the phone. I think your experience really depends on the individual sales rep.

My World Car Experience was the worst. I dealt with IPAC over the phone. They answered my questions and were willing to talk price without me coming into the showroom. In the end, I bought from North Park because they had the car I wanted in stock. I went for a test drive in early/mid December at North Park. They called me back at the end of the month and asked what it would take to sell me the car. I told the sales rep. the price I wanted to pay and the price I wanted for my trade. He called me back 15 minutes later and said we had a deal. They stuck to the deal when I purchased the car that evening.

You may want to wait until the end of the month. Dealers are usually hungry at the end of the month to meet their sales quotas/bonus programs - that's why they called me. I bought another car at the end of April a few years ago, and that dealer gave me the price I wanted. However, that dealer put a lot more pressure on me than North Park and tried to make me feel like they were doing me a favor by selling the car at the price I wanted.

The service department at IPAC is horrible. If you buy a vehicle from there and it runs great, you should have no problems getting a decent deal. If you have to have the vehicle serviced there, you are in for a world of hurt.

NP Mazda seems to have the car I want and their seasonal promotions and community/family gatherings look quite promising. I dealt with a sales rep named Shaq and he seemed terrible at his job. I knew more than this guy in terms of the RX-8 and he refused to accede. He even had the audacity to state that his RX-8s R3 were his best sellers. If clearly that were the case, why are (3) 1 year old R3s sitting in his inventory.

Fortunately, I haven't dealt with world car yet as they seemed the most shady in phone calls/emails. I haven't really discussed anything with IPAC because they don't have the car I want in stock. I am also extremely skeptical of Legend in terms of purchasing a new car. There seemed to be more leverage and amiability when i inquired about their used.

December seems to be the best time of the month to buy - especially the week before christmas eve (when the dealerships quota deadline is met), but I believe I will be shopping next week. As I have said, I've made several phone calls ahead of time in case i might receive a call later with a grand deal. The most NP Mazda has done for me was slash off 6k off their RX8s with 3.9% APR financing with the right credit.

I appreciate everyone's input here. If there is an out of town dealership that you guys would recommend, I am all ears.

i also bought my mazda 3 from north park. i thought their service and staff was fantastic.

when i first moved to san antonio, i needed a job, something relating to sports especially. i went to browse at some cars in np just for the heck of it, and the sales rep led me to a job at a local sports company in san antonio. after i got my job, i started car searching around the city. i dont know why i didnt go straight to np to purchase my vehicle to begin with, but i went to the other dealerships first.

ipac was pretty terrible. i took a test drive. they didnt even have the exact car i wanted in stock and they were pressuring me to buy a vehicle with them. they wanted me to sign all of these papers forcing me to purchase what was in stock. i said no thanks, walked out on them. they were pissssssssssed.

i then went to world car. i was a 22 yr old kid in school at the time, and i told them i was looking for a mazda3. the sales reps looked sloppy to begin with-over sized shirts, ties and shirts. i remember it was a group of about 3 reps just hanging out in a circle together. they then tell me, "psshhh, those cars are rare and hard to find, we dont have those models" LOL, you kidding me? a mazda3? lol

i went to np. the same rep who helped me get that job was there. they had the exact car i wanted, i had researched the price already, they threw in a few other cool things in the deal, and bam, deal done. best experience. and i had free oil changes with them a good 2 years.

^Sounds like the experience was good. NP Mazda looks like the most obvious choice right now for San Antonio so far, but I'm still considering my alternatives.

A few other cool things such as extras? And how did you manage to attain free oil changes for 2 years?

for oil changes they should give ya a booklet of free oil changes. the rep gave me another one in addition to what i had. i wanted a rear spoiler so he was cool about them installing that too. they went to where i was at the time to install a week or so later, so small stuff that like is cool when you're purchasing a car.
