Some people are living that third world life! I guess the city will be supplying us with one more refuse receptacle soon. Black for poop! Maybe it will come with a scoop and such.
I have better things to worry about too....such as people who are too lazy to pick up after their dogs. I shouldn't have to worry about stepping in dog poop when I am walking in a public place, apt grounds, or a park. Just your basic common courtesy.

I can't even remember a time I stepped in possum/squirrel/amadillo poop. These are not domesticated animals and therefore do not spend much time in public places.

Picking up after pets is a relatively new thing. Dogs and cats have run free forever. I'm sort of on the fence with this. If you live any where near the outskirts of town you've got wildlife (critters). You probably step in their poop daily without knowing it. Wear shoes! If you've got a giant Rottweiler dropping 4lb bombs in your yard and you don't like it go after the dog owner. If there is a law to deal with it see that it's enforced. In other words complain to the proper authorities. Watch where you walk or pick it up yourself. Takes 2 seconds then you can do "your better things to do"!

Yeah, well don't depend on that. If this is a problem in an apartment complex especially in play areas report it. If all else fails take action yourself (meaning cleaning it up). If it's on a bike trail forget about it!

You are probably out of luck - move to a more pricey apartment complex. That solved all of my appt. complex issues of this variety...and a few others.

I am wondering if there is a legal requirement somewhere that requires the complex to cleanup this mess. It is a huge health issue. You cannot go near any grassy area as they are completely over run with crap. We have kids and have to tell them the only place they can play in is the street because you cannot walk around in any of the grass.

I know the owners are supposed to pickup after their pets but at some point I think the apartment would be required to cleanup the area for the health and safety of the other residents.
Well, considering how old the earth is... I'm pretty sure there are not many spots left that have not been pooped or pee'd upon at this point.

I don't think I'll ever understand why those who claim to be responsible pet owner's fail to clean up after their pets.
We will be moving out of an apartment after a short one month stay (The Villages at Bowen's Crossing) on Sunday to finally move into our new home.
They have several areas designated for pets and they have the proper disposal recepticles. The area is littered with dog crap. In the same areas are picnic tables with bbq grills along with a nearby BB court. I feel safe in saying that there are many Folks / Children who are tracking poop into their apartments. The areas reek of poop.
I'll certainly contact COSA Metro Health and I encourage those in the same situation to do the same.
