Night life is a little boring. There are plenty of bars and a few good clubs but nothing that extraordinary. We do have the Riverwalk but that wears off pretty quickly.
We are lucky though to have so many good places to go to in the surrounding area. The Hill Country is beautiful and there’s plenty to do outdoors. Up the road is Austin which does have a great night life. Down the road there is the gulf coast and South Padre Island rocks.
I guess all San Antonian’s are content with what we have, the World Champion Spurs and Fiesta Week. Those 2 things make up for whatever we lack. Please believe.

When I get bored of the stuff in town, I just hop a cheapo Southwest flight to Las Vegas (3 1/2 hrs) or Chicago (2 1/2hrs). Problem solved.

Although there are things to do, it really comes down to what are you used to doing, how old are you, do you have kids? I can respond for me and my wife, there are not as many things as we were accustomed to doing in L.A. - so yes, it does get boring at times. But, we try to find new things to do.

The Riverwalk, well, most locals don't go down there themselves, but you do have to go there once to see what the No. 1 tourist attraction in TX is all about. The Alamo, held sacred by Texans, is good to visit. Fiesta will be something truly different - unlike anything we had in L.A. (this is one of the things that you'll only get in San Antonio).

South Padre is a 4 hour drive down South - the closest beach is about 2-1/2 hours away, Corpus. Austin is about 85 away, and is known for it's bars and live music.

Be sure to visit San Antonio a few times before you make your choice, and make sure you consider all things and reasons you're leaving. There have been several people that have moved here and decided that SAT is not for them. Everyone will tell you how great their town is, no matter where in the country, but remember, what's great for them doesn't mean that it will be great for you.

Just MHO - one Californian to another

As for Sports: fans here are obsessed over the Spurs - the only professional team in San Antonio. Yes, they did win the NBA Championship 3 times since 2000 (so did the Lakers!).

I'd rather be sitting in sunny CA taking my chances on a major earthquake that happens every 100 or so years than a flooded TX experiencing tornadoes, hurricanes, hail, etc. every doggone season!

I come from the school of...I would rather see something possibly coming (tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding) than NOT seeing something coming (earthquakes).
Either way, you are happy where you are, I am happy where I am---does it really matter?

Horribly boring. Stay in San Diego. On Saturday nights we all get together and watch PBS because there is nothing else to do. On a big event day, like Christmas, we all go to the Piggly Wiggly and get a salt water taffy to give as a gift. Nothing bigger than that cause the excitement might cause some medical problems if we let it get out of hand.

Oh! Stay away from the tourism web sites and chamber of commerce web sites. They all lie to get you here. Don't believe any of the things you read about this being a big tourist attraction, or the low cost of living, or the endless fiestas and cultural parties. Forget about sports, theme parks, museum, clubs, bars, theaters, historical sites, parks, or anything else you hear about. It is all made up to trick tourists into spending their money here. None of that is really fun or exciting.

Really!

Trust me!

LOL

Loved the post but it's have been perfect had you not put Piggly Wiggly as there are none in Texas. You know it should have been HEB!
