Default Bowie Street Renamed?!?

Maybe they'll just shorten it to "Bo Street"...new year, new name!

Quote:
City Council member Mary Alice Cisneros will host a public meeting Wednesday to discuss renaming a portion of Bowie Street, from E. Market Street to Durango.

The Development Services Department said a new name would have a positive outcome for the area.
But I think this is ridiculous, how could renaming a street result in a "postive outcome for the area?!?" That section is actually South Bowie Street and there are no businesses along that stretch.

Cheers! M2

Works for me.

If we had had avatars here while I was using that as my screen name, I would have used that "Bowie St." sign that hangs over the intersection with Commerce St. as my avatar. That lighted sign looks cool at night. If the name changes, I hope the new sign looks as good there.

Could someone please give Mary Alice something constructive to do to keep her busy? I saw a picture of her in todays paper with a shovel in her hand. Surely shes not finished with that construction job already.

Welcome to San Antonio, where the city council measures it's productivity level based on the number of streets they rename!

Gee... I wonder how many streets there are in this city that have 2 or 3 names........

Grissom/Culebra/Tezel area. Give people directions and they're fine until they come to the intersection. WTH??? Is it Grissom or is it Culebra.... to which I respond with a resounding "Yes!"

That's one of the stupidest ideas I've heard of coming from the city. Deal with real problems? Nah, let's screw with people and rename some streets!

It's not like anyone will call it by it's new name. Did you all even know that West Commerce from Buena Vista to Zarzamora is named Cesar Chavez Way? No one even calls it that...so why start now? It'll cost like $10000 to do it and then no one will even know. Big whoop.

"can you tell me how to get from Culebra to Ingram and Callaghan?"

"Sure make a left on Ingram. When you get to the mall make a right on uhhh Ingram"

"que?"

Wurzbach versus Harry Wurzbach and dont even get me started on all of the Military Drives/Rd/Hwys

I so miss my days in St Petersburg Fl when all of the streets were numbers. On 3rd street and want to get to 9th street? Guess what? Just go 6 blocks!
