Aww. What a bummer!

I haven't had the flu, but I've had a nasty cold that just does not go away...add my asthma to that, and it's been an exciting two weeks....ugh. Feel better...

Antibiotics are prescribed to help your immune system fight the infection, not the flu virus. I can see how people get confused and wonder why the doc is prescribing antibiotics if one has the flu.

The doctors are fully aware that antibiotics do not help eradicate the flu virus.
Not sure who you're talking to here....... I was given antibiotics because he dx'd an upper respiratory infection. I tested negative for flu. I should have tested positive for "felt like I got hit by a bus" if there was such a test. I honestly don't ever recall feeling this way.....the closest is once when I had bronchitis years ago as a smoker.

Well... now I too have the flu.

Started noticing mild symptoms during the day on Thursday with
occasional coughing... Thursday evening it got worse.

By Friday morning I had that "hit by a bus" feeling. Felt very sore
and achy... as though I had an overall severe attach of arthritis.

Rather than let this develop I went to the doc Friday afternoon.
The nasal swab turned up negative for flu but they suspect with
my symptoms it is the flu.

Now I'm on Tamiflu and have the next 2 days to rest at home.

I think I picked it up from the kids my co-workers bring into the
office... same thing when I was sick back in November. Why kids
are allowed in the workplace is beyond me.

Guess my bad for not washing my hands often enough or being too
close to their rugrats... I have no rugrats myself.

I had the flu vaccine but the doc told me this years flu vaccine
is essentially last years and there are some new strains. Great.

...and now it's time to prepare for all the good stuff like gardening, toobin', knockin' the rust off the grills and slappin' a side of cow onto the grate! Thank the lord this odd winter has moved back up northwards!

Just wondering how long this particular flu strain is lasting in San Antonio. Probably the worst one I've ever had in my life.
Geez, I just saw this. Truthfully, and I know this could be construed as unthoughtful, but you really shouldn't go in to work and possibly infect others with this. I DO hope that you can see a Doctor and get better soon TexasNick.

Same here. Haven't had the flu in decades <knock on wood>. When I did, and I was a LOT younger, it kicked my a**.
