I've been called in for Jury duty three times in the past 4 years. In a city of 2mil+ people, that's bull[insert any word]. I know people in their 40's and 50's with no criminal record who have only been called once or enver at all.

Sometimes I feel I as a law-abider am messed more with by government than criminals are.

And don't give me that civic duty crap. Forced mandatory involuntary servitude under threat of government punishment has a word assigned to it in the dictionary, and that word is hardly "civic duty." Such a thing is hardly Constitutional, too. Thanks for the six dollars. I'm so glad the government obeys it's own minimum wage laws, especially after forcing innocent law-abiding citizens into a major damn inconvenience.

I wish I knew who to contact to tell them to just leave me the hell alone already.

I hear you! Used to get called routinely, but after bein' booted 5-6 times in a row (somehow, bein' ex-LEO and a NRA member seems to make defense attorneys nervous), they stopped calling on me. I didn't mind being called, I hated the mindless wait with no way of knowing what was going on. It would seem that there could be SOME way of giving folks SOME kind of info as to what was happening!

I will say that by and large, the Judges' greeting was always warm, cordial and respectful, which I DID appreciate.

Ain't been called since we moved to New Braunfels, other than one time for traffic court. Once again, the ex-LEO an' NRA membership seemed an issue to 'em. I only "know" that because that was always something I was asked about just before being "excused".

Best way to get out of JD is to tell them you are a "Branch Davidian". Works like magic, every time.

Unless that's what they're looking for that day.

What? Who at C-D would actually want not to serve? Imagine having a chance to stick it to a drunk driver!

Is this a joke? I am sure everyone here would just love to serve.

Actually, I wouldn't mind it. Thing is, I've only been called to serve on one jury in all the times I've been called in. I think that's part of the issue folks have - if you're going to be called, why not get to serve? And until everyone else in the "pool" has been called in, you should be exempt from being called in again.

Thing is, that would require someone down there to actually DO something proactive - an' from my observations, that ain't allowed.

I go next week, for only the 2nd time in 25 years. I am looking forward to it, and I'm even riding the bus since they gave me a free bus pass.

i have been a registered voter since 1988. I got called for jury duty for the first time in the summer of 1995. Everybody got sent home. Just got recalled last December 6 and forgot to go. Called the county and they excused me.
