I have someone coming to clean for me once a week. She does more than just clean. She will also do laundry, wash dishes etc. She really goes above and beyond. She charges me 80/week. Is that low, high, on target?

How big is your house? That sounds incredibly cheap. Out here in the Hills it is $15/hr.

It seems kind of low to me but I'm in northern NJ near NYC where everything is pricey. To give you perspective, most of the mexicans around here who will shovel the snow from your driveway will charge $80 to shovel the duplex we live in. The driveways are also below street level so they are shoveling uphill. This they do (usually one to two people) in about an hour or so. If you are curious you should check out a classified ad site like criagslist just to see what others would charge in your area. I think I could easily spend $20 alone just doing my laundry at a laundromat.

Another thought that occurred to me is that she could simply be going above and beyond to keep the job since they are so scarce nowadays.

$75.00 for 3-4 hours. It's not based on time, but on completed work. No laundry, except folding/hanging already clean laundry.

Am I the ONLY one who went ---> at that comment?

Maybe people talk like that in NJ, but in these parts we're a bit more respectful to others.
