I’m always looking for events to go to in the city and I’ve noticed in the 2 years I’ve been in San Antonio that I seem to miss 90% of the events I wish I could go to.
I don’t see TV stations EVER talking about “upcoming events in San Antonio” and telling people the dates and locations but instead, I always find out that I missed them that night when I see the coverage on the news.

What’s the deal? Shouldn’t our TV stations inform us of the upcoming events in the city (in the news).

The newspaper is better for keeping up those things. It has lists of events. For that matter, if anyone knows about an upcoming event, why not post it on this forum? I know that some do that already...maybe we should have an events thread with sticky!

yup, get a copy of "the weekender" in the paper. lists everything going on even by categories.
and the morning news sometimes has events, more so than the evening news anyways.

Definitely, the weekender section that comes out in Thursdays section is probablly the best source.

I find it frustrating to watch TV and find out about not only events, but meetings and events of interest in the community. I also discovered that the best place to learn anything is to get the Friday paper that has "The weekender". It tells all and let's me find out about the upcoming events I need or want to know about.

"The Weekender" section is now being inserted into the Thursday paper, instead of Friday.

I used to follow the weekender for years, forgot about it until about a month ago so I would buy Fridays paper and it wasn't in there. Come to find out that the weekender is now in Thursdays paper; don't know how long ago they did the switch on the two days but buy this Thursdays paper....

In a TV newsroom, there is pressure to fill newscasts with things that are sensational, visual and promotable. A calendar of events is none of those things. It's merely interesting and helpful. TV news is the wrong place to look for things in those categories.
