Can everyone keep an eye our for a red Honda civic. I had it stolen from my apartment complex Thursday night/Friday morning, in the Northern Hills area It has dents in each door on each side. It's a two door car. It has a peace sign over the gas flap. And a piece sign where the middle brake light is on the back window. Liscense BZLY033. Tinkerbell car seat covers. Please. Any tips will be helpful.

If you've got insurance, just be happy you're going to get a new car. If they find it, it's going to be declared a salvage anyhow so consider it an early Xmas present and get a new(er) car.

If the car is found, it won't necessarily be declared salvaged. I depends on whether or not the cost to replace any parts stripped off or repair damage done to the vehicle would exceed the current fair market value of the vehicle.

I had a co-worker here in San Antonio who had a car stolen from the office parking lot in the middle of the day several years ago. The car was found a couple of weeks later abandoned at the side of a road. The car had been damaged (paint damage, broken steering column, interior got soaked because thieves left it with windows open, and it had rained), and there were some parts stolen (radio, battery, a wheel, etc.), but his insurance paid to have the car restored.

It's already been chopped up. The thugs love those Hondas for their little street races. But I hope the Tink car seat covers are found. However, they'll probably end up on one of the thieves' gf's car seats. Sorry for your loss, but I wouldn't recommend a Civic as your next vehicle.

Still going to have a "Theft Recovery" title which is a black eye when going to sell the car. While not technically a salvage title, it might as well be.

My point is, if you have insurance, just hope the car is either never found or it's stripped because you don't want it back.

I also drive a Honda, 07 Honda civic. I thought that the "security key"- very expensive I might add, is supposed to keep this car from being stolen. Reason being that only my key (and my key alone) has the necessary computer chip to start the engine.

I will keep a lookout for your car. I don't see too many red ones, so yours should be easier to spot. Good Luck.

Doesn't matter if they tow the car away...

If the vehicle is recovered before the insurance company cuts a check for the loss of the vehicle, and the vehicle is undamaged, or the damage does not exceed the fair market value of the vehicle, a Theft Recovery title should not be issued, if they are going to pay for any restoration of your vehicle.

If the insurance company cuts a check, and the vehicle is later recovered, then yes, it will get a Theft Recovery title, even if the vehicle is repairable. The insurance company has already paid you for the total loss of your vehicle, so your stolen vehicle will now be treated/processed much the same as a "Salvaged" vehicle.

It's a long shot but I heard the latest trend among thieves is to tow older cars to salvage yards to be turned into quick cash.
