Hello all! I'm headed back to San Antonio after 12yrs of being gone. I'm not native but I was stationed at Lackland AFB and loved it. I finally landed a job as a civilian back on Lackland but I'm having problems getting rid of my house in Chicago. I'd really rather not get stuck in a lease for a year so I'm thinking about living fulltime in my Airstream outside the city until I can sell my house.

I've found resort type places on the internet like Blazing Star and Tejas RV park but that's not really what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know of any RV sites within 1hr of Lackland that I can drop a trailer for about six months? I'm trying to avoid places where the RVs are stacked up ontop of eachother and you can pass beers through your neighbor's window. I'd like some space to spread out and actually setup camp and enjoy the quiet. Any help is appreciated.

I wouldn't call Tejas Valley a resort. It's a more of a small mom and pop place that has regulars living there, where Blazing star is the concert slab type. These two places are apples and oranges. Lake Medina RV resort is nice but it will be about an hour drive. Lake Medina RV Resort - RV Park in the Texas Hill Country and it doesn't always have water.

Oops, I meant the Admiralty Resort. I looked up Tejas Valley and didn't get a warm fuzzy about them. Has anyone stayed at the Alamo River RV park in Van Ormy?

Is Boerne going to be on the wrong side of traffic coming into the city in the morning? Seems like the drive would be fine until I hit the loop southbound. Hill county looks really nice though.

Medina Lake RV is nice and quiet. Most of the snowbirds are heading back home, so it will have quite a few openings. The only issue you might have is come summer it is a vacation spot.

Only when there's water and it's not looking good for this year.
