As for the OP, I'd suggest looking into Downtown/Southtown/SoFlo (South of Flores St). It's a hip, energetic and very locals-supported place to live. While you won't find a slew of chains and cookie-cutter homes, what you will find are artistic creatives who love what they do and the life they lead.

Hi, matp5f. Westover area is a wonderful place to live. There are lots of new apartment communities, lots of new shopping centers. Very convenient to expressways so just about everything in SA is within a 30 minute drive. I'm very familiar with the area and would be glad to help. Send me a DM if you need info or advice.
