Since the weather is becoming so lovely, I would like to visit some nice parks. Which are your favorites and why?

I love McAllister Park....lots of trails, picnic tables, wooded areas and shade and tons of deer grazing...I love going there in the afternoons right before the sun sets...

I second McAllister park, great place.

I've been wanting to try the new greenways across town. Anyone try them yet and how are they like?

I like O. P. Schnabel, although some of it has been turned in recreation areas with ball fields, buildings and such, which does cut down on the available natural areas.

It's only been open for about a year and it's not fully developed yet. Only about 20% of the total land the park occupies is open to the public. The rest is under construction or awaiting funding.

It is adjacent to the first segment of the Salado Creek Greenway, which is a 2+ mile trail that is nice for walking, running or biking.

Hardberger has a lot of potential and it will get better, but it would be hard for anyone to consider it a favorite yet.

I have a toddler, so right now my favorite park is the one adjacent to the Landa Library. It has two play areas one for older kids with a big playground and another smaller playground with swings for the little ones. Plus room to lay around or walk around. The grounds there are really nice (so is the library!)

Have been to Lion's Park which is connected to Salado Creek Greenway, and it's pretty cool there too. It's slightly under construction, but my son loves to sit by the little lake and look at the ducks.

Just be careful at O.P. Schnabel park, there are some 25 foot plus cliffs there and someone died falling off one of them a couple of years ago. Not sure if they're fenced off or not.

I like Friedrich Park, because it's secluded and because I hate people.
