I'm moving to San Antonio in a few weeks.

I've had to move twice since I got my dog Winston about four years ago from the Oldies But Goodies Cocker Spaniel Rescue. I've been incredibly lucky and have had two AMAZING vets. He's a 10-13 year old American Cocker Spaniel. He had surgery for a torn ACL and a luxating patella November of last year. He's also has Cushing's disease which is completely under control but has to take meds daily for the rest of his life.

I'm going to live on the NW side of San Antonio but I'll gladly drive any distance so my pup gets the best care.

Any recommendations?

We've been happy with Town & Country Veterinary Hospital

Been using them for 7 years now for both our dogs and our cats. They are located on Bandera Road just inside Loop 1604 about 2 miles or so.

Alamo Heights Vet Clinic. Dr Metzler has saved my Bunny (she is a dog not a rabbit) She is old (Bunny not Dr. Metzler) and has a heart condition. Bunny is on medication and is enjoying life.

OMG you called your dog a flea bag! You better run for the hills before some holier than thou starts accusing you of dog abuse!

I like PetsFirst on West Avenue and for grooming I LOVE Lucky Dog on NW Military.

Whatever you do, DO NOT take your dog to the Becker Animal Hospital. It is beautiful on the outside, but it's not a good place for your pet.

We used "Hooves and Paws" on Bandera road in Helotes, on the northwest side. Nice and reasonable.

Sounds to me like you might want to consider a "specialty practice." I use South Texas Veterinary Specialists @ 503 E. Sonterra Rd off of Stone Oak Blvd. These docs are truly fantastic. My 8 y/o lab mix has had heart surgery when he was a youngster and has two bionic knees installed by these Vets and he's doing great. I would trust them to work on me over the VA or some of these local MDs I ever had to make such a choice.

I'm looking for a new vet in the Grissom, Tezel, Westover Hills, Sea World area. Anyone have any suggestions? When we moved here, we still took our dogs to their previous vet even though it was quite a drive. That vet has since retired so I am looking in our area. Thanks.
