The reason I bring up the high proprty taxes is my concern when living on a fixed income or retired.I know you can get some kind of reduction or a freeze but that's still a big chunk monthly. As far as income taxes paid into the sysyem;I don't think that states that have them take it out of your soc.sec.checks.So if my house is paid off and I'm retired,do I want pay out 400.00 a month for taxes or 200.00.

Thats high!In oregon on my 250k value I pay 2200.00 with no state sales tax.Revenue for the state comes from very high income taxes(which you pay out when working). So needless to say people retired don't have to pay the high prop.taxes.

They get you one way or the other. On a 150K home here...you're taxes should be around 3000-4000 or so...depending on where you live. (Inside or outside 1604).

We moved back to Texas from SF Bay Area (Petaluma, North Bay) mainly because of the housing. There's no way we coould afford osmething there. 150K gets you plenty of house in a nice area with good schools. I think our house if transplanted to Bay Area would be at least 600K if not more.

The westher is much warmer with less rain. Culturally (museums, shows, etc.) maybe not as good as Bay Area. There is a lot of culture, don't get me wrong, it' sjust not the same. Also, the population, for whatever it's worth, is not as educated.

All in all, however, we love San Antonio and currently desire to live nowhere else.

That's good to hear.Even with the taxes and such I still plan on moving there.Having nice neighbors and friendly people is what I miss most and that's something you can't buy.

“Turner family” I agree with you 100%. Cal is nice but most of the people here do not even know their neighbors at all. No one has the desire to go out on the street and just talk to the person live a block from you, at least here in San Jose. Although it is the 10th largest city in the U.S., you can get bore right away. San Francisco is a much better place you always see something going on there and is smaller is since and population.

I have a question. The style of the houses that are been built they all have that side board siding on the back and brick on the front. Those any one knows if there is a builder that makes house in the Mediterranean or Spanish style.
