Of course Ikea would sell well here, I don't know if there is a market where Ikea isn't selling well. They have a little something for everyone at different stages of your life. Not high end by any means, but for the most part stylish and cheap enough so that you won't grow too attached if your Poang cracks and is rendered useless. It's definitely a place where you have to hone your "eye" so that you can pass up some of the really bad stuff and find great items; especially for re-purposing.

They have some great textiles, picked some up this weekend. It's destined for pillows.

I think IKEA would do well here if it was located near UTSA. Perhaps the RIM area.

IKEA has great deals for the budget shopper. Dreadlockd is right, it is mostly cheap 'throwaway" furniture but not all of it is.

With the Round Rock location being a hour away, I doubt it will happen. I don't know of any IKEAS that are only a hour apart.

They are in Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and NYC.

I think that SA has the population base to handle it. Dallas, Houston and Austin have it. What's the biggest city in Texas missing from that list? San Antonio.

And Round Rock would be more like 2 hours away from a location by The Rim, or possibly Westover Hills.

I don't know of anyone that can make it between the cities you listed in a hour or less unless they are driving an A6 on the autobahn.

San Antonio does have the population base no doubt. San Antonio is missing a lot of things that smaller cities have. IKEA is just one.

We need MORE consumer electronic stores to compete with Best Buy they pretty much have run of the mill here in San Antonio and I'm tired of it.

We need a Microcenter here in San Antonio Altex is great but too pricey on most items,
I miss Compusa and Circuit City

I would love to see a Brio Tuscan Grill!
The crab cakes with shrimp are delicious without a lot of fillers and come with roasted veggies. They have mini creme brulee and other mini desserts so you wont feel guilty about having sweets. The fried calamari is great as well as the steak bruscetta, lamb and pork chops.
Even though it is a chain restaraunt it has an expensive italian look without actually being really expensive. It is my favorite place to have lunch.
