I have a problem with worms in my second house where my step-daughter is living. They are thin, the color of earthworms, and about 4 or 5 inches long. I say they are worms, but she says they are snakes, of course I hope they are worms. Anyone have any idea how to eradicate these? Are there exterminators for worms?

By golly, I think they are Texas Blind Snakes. When I read the other thread and the link posted there, it sure sounds like the same thing. They move like a snake, and look like a worm. It's good to know thery are harmless, but my step daughter won't care about that part, even if they were harmless worms, she would want them gone. If she knows they actually are snakes, then she will really freak out. She says she finds 3 or 4 a day in the house, so there must be a lot of them. Wonder how we can get rid of them?

Edited to add: I just did some more research and found out thatthis snake prefers termites or ants, and if they arein the ouse, then there probably are termites around. At any rate, if you get rid of their food source, then the will probably go away. So I need to investigate termite treatments I guess. We also always had an ant problem in that house, so maybe that is what attracted the snakes.

Ew. I would say that you could probably take care of the problem yourself if they were worms; but since you might have termites and snakes, then you probably need an exterminator. Sorry, I can't recommend one because I usually do a better and cheaper job doing my own pest control.
