If TransGuide planned for every even kind of heavy impact funeral they would clog up all their signs. I got stuck in one a few months ago on 410 headed towards 281 and didn't complain one bit about it. And if we're following the "time is money" concept then there should be some blinking signs near San Fernando when there's a planned funeral procession. I got stuck near plenty of those when i worked in the area.

I understand it was a bit of a commute from 1604/Golld Canyon to Culebra, but but it's part of life. Calm down.

re: the news
i don't have television, so i don't know how widely it was known... but it sounds like the kind of thing these local "news" places would report on only after the fact.

"woah, did you see how congested culebra/1604 was? sure hope you guys weren't over there today!"

Yeah, but in SA's defense, they really did publicize it pretty well. First with the news that she died, then the funereal arrangements were publicized, etc. They did everything right except fail to tell TransGuide so people could take 410 instead of 1604 IF THEY NEEDED TO.
