Does anyone know what happened on Culebra at 1604. A friend called me and said the road had lots of police on it and was closed up near 1604/Culebra close to the Walmart.

Thanks.

It's the funeral procession for the fallen police officer, who's being buried off Culebra Road.

I sat in traffic for a good bit and then decided to turn around.

Would be ironic because I just told my wife yesterday that I'm surprised one of them hasn't been killed yet with the way they walk around cars like they aren't moving and don't weigh several tons. Was at that exact intersection too..

I was told by a SAPD officer that the reason those people don't like the shelters is because they aren't allowed to drink or use drugs there. The officer added that if people quit giving them money, they'd move on but obviously enough folks aren't understanding that....

They had traffic messed up for 2-3 hours today from 1604/281 several exits eastward.. firetrucks with the ladders up with flags draped between em, ambulances, cops, not just a procession but just sitting on overpasses and intersections. Seemed like every vehicle with sirens on northside.. just mucking up traffic all over. I'm all for respect for a fallen.. anyone, but I'm not from around here and have never seen anything like this. I also work as a courier so it really screwed up my day.

It woulda been nice to know where the route procession would have been so that people could have avoided it by taking 410 or something. Wasn't it from CBC to Culebra, the nunnery there? That's a darn long drive.

I once got into a funeral procession by accident (dead serious, I don't know how it happened) and just waited for the officers to blast by me before I took off and entered the parking lot I needed to enter. Is it illegal to enter a funeral procession by accident? I really didn't mean to.
