Nationwide currently has 1,000 employees in San Antonio and is building a center in Westover Hills that will house 800 more.

I don't get the impression from the article that all of those are new jobs.

"The office will allow the company to consolidate some office space and expand operations."

I wonder if that means they'll close the office at 281 and Nakoma.

This makes it sound like they are hiring 800 more employees. Plus, I first heard the news on KSAT.

Quote:
Last year, Nationwide announced that it had selected San Antonio for a new sales and service operations center that would support the hiring of 800 individuals. On Monday, the insurer said it has placed land under contract near the intersection of Hyatt Resort Drive and State Highway 151 on which to place the building. [LEFT]

Why are they building a new building. There are empty office buildings all over town, in every part of town. They couldn't've used one of those?

Yay for jobs, but damn.

I think the infrastructure of Westover Hills was specifically set up by the city to handle call centers.
