Maybe he or she was not a very effective teacher, or had some other issues?

No - excellent reviews, etc - was told that they "had" to let one probationary teacher go. It's not so much that it happened - it's that they're being less than honest about it that makes me wonder what else isn't being said. After all, many other districts made cuts, so why not be up front?

Congrats! It's not an easy time for teachers right now - and the work expected of them is nothing short of back-breaking. My wife retired this past year, and watching the weight come off of her is nothing short of amazing. She confesses she still wakes up sometimes worried that she's late, so she's still adjusting - but she's getting there. Her biggest regret is being away from "her" kids - she really enjoyed working with each class, and watching them grow.

My hat is off to each and every teacher - it's not a glamorous OR appreciated job, simply because most have absolutely NO idea as to what's expected of the good ones. Not anyone's fault, because it's almost impossible to detail just what's involved. SOME teachers' shouldn't be in the classroom, but by and large most are dedicated, loving folks that truly love what they do.

Fellow NEISDers...contracts are coming...ours were issued yesterday...they may be going in alphabetical order, as some other schools had not gotten theirs yet.

Default School Districts and Contracts

Have all SA schools figured out how they will handle the budget for this school year?
Someone mentioned that SAISD still had not issued contracts. I thought they had to by a certain date.

What about other districts?

Noone will have final numbers until the summer when the schools normally learn of their allocations/funds.

At NISD I haven't heard of anyone getting their contracts yet. However they did announce that they were not going to lay off probationary teachers.
