I just moved to San Antonio from a city with great public transportation. I sold my car before I moved here. I'm taking a little longer than I expected to decide on a new car. Until then I'm going to use the public transit.

I have family in Houston whom I'd like to visit regularly. What's the best way to get to Houston and back? Are there express buses, shuttles, etc? The closest landmark to me is the Tower of America. Thanks!

I would expect the hound makes regular trips to Houston.

Most likely your only option, I believe.

Sunroof optional. On Southwest, at least.

Southwest is pretty decent at $89/one way. I'm sure you can get it cheaper if you keep watching the website. You could take a bus to both airports.

Greyhound has nonstop bus service to/from SA and Houston. There are buses leaving every couple of hours and about 6 of those a day are 3 hrs. 15 min. scheduled transit time from SA to Houston. Roundtrip cost if you buy online is about $55.

If you want to visit for a weekend, check the rental cars. Several companies offer weekend specials on compacts. The cost of the car, insurance and gas may be less than a bus ticket and give you the capability to get from here to where you want to be in Houston and back.
I use the Avis office on Crocket St. Get a GPS and you will not get lost on your travels.

It's a trade off. Free baggage, but there will be a hole in the plane.
