I am moving to the 78245 area, in between 151 and marbach, right off of 410. I am looking for a good General doctor for me and my spouse, and also a good pediatrician for my kids.. preferably in that area. I am also looking for a good dentist for all of us. I don't mind having a different dr/dentist for us and the kids! Hopefully someone who accepts my insurance, which is United Healthcare. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I live in the same zip code but for my pedi i travel to Dr. Francisco J Montemayor. He is out near blanco and 410 and certainly worth the drive. Not sure if he is taking new patients but hes been wonderful to our son. His office is older but his staff is caring kind and very knowledgeable. Dr.Frank takes his time with your child and clearly explains everything.

As for a dentist my husband and I went to Alamo city dental on potranco their prices are a little pricy but they are overall a good facility. I had some out of pocket expenses so if you plan on going there make sure you know up front what your out of cost will be...and they will almost certainly try to upsell you on their $400 toothbrush that puts your regular manual toothbrush to shame. I opted for just the bill minus the cadi of toothbrushes. .

Hope that helps As far as docs i dont see a regular one so i cant help you there if im sick im usually at Texas Med Clinic. its a pretty rare thing for me. Good luck.

I live in that same general area.

I love, LOVE my doctor, Dr Sanjana. He works out of Castle Hills Family Practice, which will be about 15 minutes away, pretty much a straight shot up 410. I am someone who hates going to the doctor, but thoroughly love going there. Great staff and a nice office. They have a lab there, some allergy therapists, and now a Chiropractor... so really one stop shopping.

He moved his practice... it used to be on Marbach... it is worth the trip.

I go here too. Oh yes the upsell of the toothbrush... Sonic Care is pretty cool that I bought at Costco but Alamo City's brand looks kinda small for my big horse teeth, lol.

Thanks for the info... I checked, and Alamo takes my insurance. I will try them out first, before I take the kiddos. Luckily I work for my dental insurance, so I am aware of all the upsells and what not. Thanks for the warning.

For general doctor I highly recommend: Dr. Janet Lin :: Physicians :: MedFirst :: Baptist Physicians Network

Her office is right off of 151/Weisman just down the road from you. It's a new facility also and is very clean. I have United health care so I know she accepts it.

We found it hard to find a good dentist. The guy we had passed on. Since then we cycled through a bunch of crooks who found teeth that needed crowns at every visit or else your mouth would explode. After visiting three of time over several years, we found the Health Science Center faculty practice clinic to be competent AND honest.

Dentist... Dr. John Durnford in Schertz.

I believe the office has a web site.

Excellent place and doc that does not push extra treatment
that is not necessary.

My last dentist would have had me endure 3 root canals
that were totally unnecessary except to line his pockets.

Thanks Paul56! I work in CS for my dental insurance, so believe me.. I have heard everything, including stories like yours. Its crazy how dentists are crooks..I can only imagine how medical doctors are.. but I don't even want to go there. I talk to both members and doctors ALL day, and can't help to feel sorrow for the members that believed that what their dr said was true.. but yet the so called DR can't even provide the documentation to support the need! I especially feel sorry for the elderly, because they trust in good faith, and get taken advantage of from every angle. Made me realize that all DR's are working to line their pockets, and will milk the insured, and the insurance company for every dollar! Sometimes, it makes me wanna walk in there and tell them I don't have insurance, and hope they will be honest with me. But then I have heard the war stories with "CARE CREDIT" Oh.. how the richer get richer, and the "Poorer" get poorer! You may not be poor, but falling for a dr scam will make you poor and put you in a hole so deep you can't get out of! I guess that's why I try to seek advice on a good, honest DR/dentist!
