Default JVC Parts Source in SA

The lamp in our big screen JVC just went tango uniform, and I need a replacement. I can order them online, but I'd prefer to pick one up locally (to stimulate the economy a little! )

Does anyone know of a good shop/store that sells parts for JVCs?

Thanks! M2

Master Electronics on E. Bitters advertises that they stock replacement lamps for most DLP and LCD TVs. I've never used them, so I can't vouch for them, but it's a place to start.

I've never dealt with them, but here's a place on Culebra outside of Loop 410 that's been around since 1976:

The Tv Shop (http://www.bigscreenspecialists.com/ - broken link)

They mention on the page that they stock lamps, but I don't know if they will sell the parts directly, or if the only offer full service (no parts sales).

Good luck with the repair, Major...

Thanks folks, I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow...

It's an easy repair and one I can do myself, it's just that JVC wants $200 for the bulb and I was hoping to find it locally...

Cheers! M2

TVs4Less had it for $149 + tax. It's just the bulb (easily replaced in the housing) but the important part is they give a six month warranty! That makes me happy, as that way if anything does go wrong then I can go by the shop instead of having to ship the bulb somewhere and wait for a replacement. Plus, I am not even sure online sources even offered a warranty!

Thanks for the info, and a big to TVs4Less for being so helpful!

Cheers! M2

Default Television Trouble,

You seem to be having some television troubles lately MMM. I had a rear projection T.V. too, Toshiba, bought from Best Buy and after only two years the cathode ray tubes went out. The set was ruined, $2000.00 down the tubes. It had a very brilliant picture but the Toshiba Rear Projection sets were known for early burn out of the CRT's. Little did I know at the time of purchase.
So I replaced it with an Insignia ? Yep. So far it has been a good set but it is ony two years old.

Except for the Insignia, which didn't last two years, we're really not have much problems.

This 61" JVC is well over five years old and this is the first thing that's gone out on it. The Phillips we replaced the Insignia with is still going strong as well.

I won't buy any major electronics from Best Buy because of that crap Insignia TV they sold me, we just bought our third Vizio as the other two have been excellent!

Cheers! M2
