King Antonio is part of the Cavaliers? I remember reading awhile back that its sort of rarely spoken about separation between the "white" fiesta and the "brown" fiesta and white fiesta has more money than brown fiesta. I found it kinda weird....

makes you wonder why our paper is turning to bigoted stories. who cares if there has never been a hispanic king antonio. the fact that the paper is so concerned about it only shows their true, bigoted colours.

FWIW, that quote was from a letter to the editor, not a story in the paper.

You haven't been reading the SA-EN for long then. I fear it makes The Current look like the NYT. While the Letters to the Editor are the most entertaining (with at least ONE God-fearing letter a week published), the paper as a whole is now as featherweight as what folks criticized The SA-Light for being years ago.

I agree with Saul Sandoval. He was right on the money. The Cavaliers are a bunch of phoney, snotty rich white guys that put on a boring parade. A Cavalier has to be "born" into the "aristocracy" or related by marriage to one of the fair white maidens. That is why there are no mexican-american, black or Asian members.
Eva Longoria (a proud Latina) should be ashamed of herself for participating in their parade.

first off, 60% of san antonio is HISPANIC, not mexican-american. nothing offends me more than being told that im from mexico, when i clearly am not.

http://www.city-data.com/city/San-Antonio-Texas.html

second off, the opinion fluff piece you read was written by a racist mexican/hispanic that is upset and jealous that no hispanic has made the cut, so he chooses to make a race issue out of it.

if you dont think thats bigoted and racist, idk what to tell you.

this is just as bad as the stunt sprite pulled with the 'dance off' competition that a bunch of white girls won (all of the teams that competed in that competition were black, cept for one white team... that won...). all of the black teams complained, and sprite eventually caved and forced the winners (the white team) to share the first place prize with the second place losing team.

Amid controversy, AKAs

sometimes, your race just doesnt make the cut and thats no reason to turn it into a race issue, as this crappy blogger has.

/proud hispanic/spaniard

-edit-

boycott sprite btw. forgot to include that. no need to support a racist company like them. 7up tastes better with its new formula
