crazedchef,
Back in Baghdad after a great R n R.
Hey Chief...did you make it to the Seafood Market on Sukemvent??? I LOVE that place....fresh anything from the ocean in tanks and WONDERFUL fresh veggies...you take your minature shopping cart and load up on what you want and select THE fish/lobster/whatever you want from the tank and they fix it for you....Man, I LOVE that place...go every time we are there.
Is there still a Swensen's Ice Cream on every other corner???

Tony's boots is THE place to get custom made shoes there...you select everything, they are custom made to fit your foot and you can put on even the high heels (ok, I can, YOU would probably loose your job) and walk for miles!!!

Hummm....it is time for another trip to Thailand....the most interesting place I have ever been...looking out the window of the Dusatana hotel we saw a mercedes, Tuk-Tuk, family of 4 on one motorbike AND an elephant going down the road at the same time!!!

Hi,

Came back to work and everyone had left (scared) and I became foreman so no time to post.

Anyway, Yes I was on Sukhumvit rd and saw an Elephant while eating in a restaurant. Saw many crazy things.

I have spent 3 months there the last two years so I am pretty acclimated to the culture, but I still feel like I could spend the rest of my life there, but then the pull of the Hill Country becomes to great and I know where I will eventually end up: San Antonio.

Sorry for the ramblings, 128 degrees today and I kinda overdid it, kinda woozy.

I will look up a couple of places you mentioned the next time there.

I've never noticed the lack of 7-11's in SA. Maybe it's because I live in Austin where there seems to be one on every corner.

I don't think it's a Spanish word with an actual definition. The name "valero" comes from the name San Antonio de Valero, the name of a Roman Catholic Mission.

They're all over O'ahu, we're not missing anything.

Now, the ABC stores they have here are quite nice!

7-11s will always remind me of being a young teen, saving quarters to play pinball and buying candy.

Cheers! M2

7-11 over Valero any day. Well...Valero has good tacos but that can be bought anywhere in this city.

7=11 has gone downhill, I visited one in Austin years ago. and It did not impress me. Their chilli and cheese does not taste good anymore. Valero has horrible coffee though.

Ohh and to the person who was asking whats a valero, Its either a beacon or a simple bearing. Depending on how the term is used locally. I found out that some people call flat tacos chalupas here.

Depends the new Valero corner stores with the yellow logo are very nice and the rest rooms are always clean.
