Is it too late for lawn aeration? Which companies do this and what is the normal/reasonable charge? Will it make a huge difference in the lawn?

we skipped it this year because basically our landscaper said it wasn't going to be worth it with the drought. Now, if we have a rainy winter/early spring next year, we are totally doing it. ABC quoted us $600 for aeration and composting. Our landscaper said that was a little high, he thought $400-$500 was about right.

Pick yourself up an aeration tool for $20 to $40 and do the job yourself
or get the kids to do it.

Beats the $500 bill.

If you want to save some money than do it yourself, I rented the aerator machine from lowes i believe it was $70 bucks for 24 hrs, better yet find a friend or familiy member to share the rental. Compost is $30 to $40 per yard which was plenty for my front yard, if you already have a truck that will be your total cost.
