Default Modern furniture

Does anyone know of any place like IKEA or Eurway that sells moderately priced modern furniture? I've been looking for this here, and have to travel to any city BUT SA to find it. Hoping there are maybe some smaller establishments or mom & pops.

Thanks.

i agree, there's not too many of them here ... i guess people here are more traditional in style... maybe more will come when the planned lofts and condos are finished...

In person or via catalog/online? It sounds like you want in person, but the West Elm catalog/website is fairly reasonable... Since they are part of the Pottery Barn group, sometimes you can find some of their furniture at the Pottery Barn outlet in San Marcos.

In person. I'll check out Coppenhaggen. Thanks.

I notice people's choice in furniture here is very "dated". The things you find at Lacks or Ashley furniture (BARF) reminds me of my grandmothers apartment in 1995. It's 2007, and the new look is streamlined, simplistic, and contemporary.

Thanks.
If I were you, I would take the drive to Austin/Round Rock and visit IKEA and Eurway.

Or you can always shop online.

If you look hard, Target has a few Mod pieces, but it's always good to mix things up.

My pad is furnished with vintage pieces, Target, IKEA, West Elm, DWR, eBay, Eurway and regular thrift store finds. Just remember the internet is your best friend. I order from tons of sites.

Cheers and good luck!

I think you were referring to The Storehouse, but they closed.....many across the country shut their doors too. Not sure why...other than they were really a bit pricey compared to IKEA...and the quality was not superior.

West Elm, however will be coming soon to the Quarry Village in Lincoln Heights.

I'm in the design biz, and Lacks and Ashley furniture stores are not the best quality furniture out there....and yes, they appeal to a certain "niche".

If you want better quality, Stowers has one of the most diversified lines of furniture in SA. You can find "ranch style rustic"....traditional..... and loft style sleek. Generally the more "modern" styles are off to the left as you walk in the door. Very good brands that will last a long time.

John Williams and Louis Shanks have catered to the "over done" and oppulent crowd for a while, but they are coming back to earth. Top quality brands.....but not the variety that I tend to find at Stowers.

Also...try Star....a couple notches down on the list, but you can find some more affordable lines and some more modern to contemporary designs.

If all else fails....grab a designer and go to Dallas or Houston to the trade marts. My favorite choice!

In Dallas...the World Trade Center and the Trade Marts....the wholesale stores and dealers. The World Trade Center is getting harder to get in, even with the right credentials.....ie Tax ID, business cards, stationery....etc. You have to apply to some of them and prove a certain $$$ of wholesale purchases.

The Trade Mart area is a little more lax.....most people in the trade can get in and bring customers! Both were my playground when I had my business in Dallas!
