Where did you get those facts? I don't think that's correct. Shouldn't people with a high school diploma be able to read?

What percentage of the city population is illiterate?

It is not just struggling financially, but a myriad of other problems coexist within poverty. Majority of the people are asking where you are getting your information from exactly primarily myself. The original site you posted seems to cater toward college aged students. I am not a basher of this city and I love this city dearly. It saddens me when people consider the numbers you posted to be acceptable. To me personally those numbers are somewhat concerning, but not really becasue they seem way too inaccurate to be real.
First off, quit writing in huge blocks. As a teacher you should be well taught in how to write proper paragraphs.

Second, quit getting off track and changing the topic so much. How we got to drop out rates is beyond me.

Every city has people living in poverty, every city has drop outs, every city has uneducated people. So why aren't you forming a task force to go out there and post and their sub forums to argue whatever statistics they post?

Jesus man, just deal with the actual numbers that are real and quit bringing up things that have no place in the discussion.

Third, that site does not cater to college aged students (wait what?) it caters to people interested in a place to live. They make top 10 lists for varying topics, this one was geared toward the post college graduate.

Another one is directed towards people looking for the best bang for your buck staycation locations. Now so much the "college aged student".

And why would those numbers be concerning? And why would they not be accurate? Because they do not fit your perceived perception of San Antonio? But as a lifelong San Antonian, your perception is 100x better than mine.

Well OP there is another person inquiring where you are getting your facts because they seem way too faulty. Don't worry though. you lost credibility with me a long time ago.

Per the link below, it fluctuated between 10 and 13 percent between 2000 and 2003.

No problem. I can backup my claims.

Bexar County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

No worries, you never had credibility with me and if you did, you lost it when you said you are a teacher.

If I were writing a research letter or grant letter then I'd be concerned with my paragraph structure. I am going back and forth with someone who is blurting out random numbers from a shady website on City-Data so I could care less about my sentence structure. I could also care less about another community. I live and work in this community so I am obviously concerned with what happens in my community. And now you are finally getting it! Yes my perception, reality, generalizations, viewpoints, thoughts, mindsets, etc. are not better than yours. They just sound like I know what I am talking about from an educated, well-rounded perspective. You on the other hand make points which frankly are comical due to being faulty. Don't worry though. It happens.

Hey teacher, would any of your students be smart enough to let you know that you mean you "couldn't" care less and not that you could care less. You know, simple grammar.

The students couldn't care less I assume but their parents may have something to say.

And really? Your sentence structure means nothing because you're posting on a forum? Wow...

Also, how are my view points faulty when they're backed by facts and figures. All you've done to this point is make it obviously clear that you are not a teacher and post links to books about poverty and obesity. Those are the stone cold facts.

If this were a game of mental chess, I checkmated long ago.

That 80% is for people 25+ years old. Last time I checked Seniors graduate when they are 18 years old. That 80% is for those that dropped out, went back and got their GED. Which is great for them but is contradictory to what you originally stated.
