One of the major downsides though is the trash, its everywhere. People here have no respect for the environment, the landscape, or their surroundings. Diapers are thrown out windows on the highway, etc. etc.

The taxes are great though![/quote]

Wow, this is one of the MAIN reasons we left SA (along with graffiti and loose animals). Why don't the locals understand how this impression is made on those of us who move here for jobs???

You're better off moving to Austin instead. That's where all the people from Dallas, Houston, SA are fleeing to.

Yeah, I'd vote with don't move. I've lived in CT (not the same but close enough to RI). I liked it well enough, but it is very very different from here. it sounds like you're not ready to leave "home." Nothing wrong with that, you and your husband just need to get on the same page. If you're not ready to leave, you're not going to be happy even in paradise.

As someone that has made this exact move, I'd suggest you stay in RI, or at the very least, proceed cautiously. I only lasted 18 months in TX and am moving back July 1st. The two states couldn't be any more different. I won't rehash my Texas rant on this forum, other than to simply say everyone is different and you have to find the best fit for you.

I don't think the OP would like it here for a number of reasons and the heat is definitely one of them. It's insanely hot here and I'm somehow tolerating it, but I have a sudden love for heat.. It's also not a thing like the NE, especially the food and lack of seafood. That's one of the many areas of diversity this place needs. I've lived here a little over 10 years and would say diversity is frowned on here all around..
