They won't let you install it yourself anymore and I surely tried. I told them the $80 install fees were a deal breaker and he talked to someone for about 5 minutes and then said if I paid this month in advance, they'd wave the fees. So I did and just got a bill for an additional almost $130. The whole house DVR is over $50 for four TVs and it can't really do jack!.

thats a bit ridiculous. doesnt surprise me that they included the install fee. they were probably banking on you missing it and just paying your bill like most.

btw, i thought that paying your first months in advance was pretty much standard for them? i didnt have to pay mine up front with ATT but i did anyways.

i prefer how netflix always remembers where you are with what program you were watching and gives you the opportunity to resume or start over no matter what pc youre on.

I've never been charged in advance and I just remembered the installer didn't show up until more than two hours after the latest time for the install and that was only after I called them about an hour and 15 minutes after the latest show time. Good thing is I used a credit card, so if they don't get rid of it, I'll dispute it and definitely win. Also going to ask them for an additional $80 for the two hours I had to leave early from work.. I'm sure they won't, which is why I won't feel the slightest bit sorry for instantly dumping them; as soon as I figure out a replacement plan of course..

ok, just looked at the bill again and I was being too nice earlier.. they charged $43.96 for DVR service, $36 for DVR Multi Room, $23.97 for three high definition terminals, and $7.99 for HD DVR. This was for one DVR and three HD boxes. Who in the fudge is going to pay over $110/month just for the DVR service? and like I said, it doesn't do jack. All you can do on the other boxes is watch a recorded program. You can't record, set up a recording for later, pause, or rewind. For over $110/month on top of the other $100. $217.88 for one month of that DVR service, RR Turbo, and the phone, and some free showtime I could care less about and never even watch. They said it would be about $134 plus some taxes and fees... and that $217.88 doesn't include the $79.98 install fees and $18+ in fees and taxes. Yeah, they want almost $320 for the first month. It so sucks to be whoever answers the phone... I'm beyond mad now.

holy crap! 110 a month JUST for the DVR service??? thats insane!!

att and direc tv blow them out of the water. i pay an extra 5$ a month for a DVR box, thats it. 10$ extra for HD on ALL my tvs.

total bill for me is around 40 a month for 2 tvs with dvr and hd set top boxes.

Yep. I told the guy at&t jacked my rate up to $180 and that wasn't acceptable. So he signed me up for a plan that charges $240. I'm being incredibly nice on the phone because I know this lady has nothing to do with the issue. This is when you wish you could talk to the CEO...

And that's $240 for whole house DVR for four TVs, the 3 for $99 thing, RR Turbo, plus the showtime for a year I don't care about. Nothing special, not even wireless and the Internet is incredibly crappy and slow. Took over three hours to download a 1.6 Gb ISO last night.

As far as DirecTV, DVR service is currently $7 extra per month, and their Whole Home DVR service is $10/month. Additional receivers beyond the first one are an additional $6/month.

DirecTV's base programing package is currently $60.99/month, after expiration of promotions. No HD included at that price.

Ok, finally got this thing resolved, but I'm still getting rid of TWC. They had me down for four DVRs, so that's why they were charging $110/month just for that service. With taxes it will end up beign around $166/month for four TVs and that's still not acceptable, mostly because the whole home DVR thing sucks so bad. I can't believe you can't even schedule a recording from one of the other boxes. That's just stupid. So basically, if you want to record something you're watching in bed, you have to get up, go downstairs, turn on the main TV and set up the recording. Like anyone is going to do that.. and yeah, you could make your bedroom the main TV, but then what if you're watching downstairs and would have to go upstairs just to record something? stupid..

and the installer that hooked up RR in my daughter's apartment took it upon himself to disconnect her Dish service in her bedroom and then told her he didn't know what happened to it. Hopefully he'll be getting a talk today for doing that one.
