It's near the airport. I looked to see if I could help. But I'm not too familiar with that area.

78216 is kind of a crap shoot. There are some good areas around Jones-Maltzberger and Thousand Oaks and the general area around McAllister Park, but once you get closer to the airport around Wetmore the area becomes more industrial/blue collar. Inside 410 there's alot of older housing and retail/office buildings. Also, the area is smack in the middle of a lot of heavy construction that wont be finished for another year or two, so factor that into your decisions.

Overall, its not the most fashionable zip code in SA, but it's far from the worst either.

I would check out:

Bitterwood Ranch at 400 W Bitters Rd. 78216 210-494-5548
Alamonte 12474 Starcrest 78216 210-491-0256
Mirada 13515 West Ave. 210-491-3404

I don't rent and don't know anyone that does, these are just near where my parents live and I think in a nice area close to shops, airport and freeway access.

Good Luck.

Good pictures of these properties at donsapartments.com

Default Abbey at stone oak

I am currently at the Abbey and have had little issues, it is mostly a new place (most buildings were not even up when I moved here in 10/2006), although rent may be a bit higher but I think it is worth it.

They do have 1bed 1 bath with attached garage (that is what I have) and rent right now is better than what I am paying (they have some good deals going on).

It is very close to the airport (coming home may suck though) so commute will be short (I think), here is their number (if you want to call) 210 490 8700

Stone Oak is not close at all to 78216. So I would probably scratch that, instead I would look at any of the Complexes at Oakwell Farms. It's in 78218, but it's in a masterplanned community and you have several complexes to choose from. Search for things around Oakwell Farms parkway.

I wouldn't say S.O. isn't close at all geographically (they're both roughly north central), but the traffic down 281 would certainly make it seem like quite a drive every day.
