are there any stores in SA that sell christening dresses? Or where can I find a dressmaker to make a custom dress?

Also, are there any rules with baptising a child in a Catholic church? do you have to go to weekly meetings? pay a fee?

As a godparent, we had to attend a class for the baptism. I'm sure parents have to attend also, talk to your parish priest, of course.

I've seen Christening dresses at Dillard's in the baby department. Look in your higher end department stores like Nordstrom's also.

Yes, it is called Mass! Start going to church, all your questions will be answered there. Sounds like you arent even Catholic yourself?

you also have to find at least one godparent who attends weekly mass and has received all the sacraments.

In this town, I had a tough time finding a baptism dress that was not super elaborate and did not look like an explosion of lace, ribbon and jewels. If this is what you want, there are lots of local, mom and pop places in town that sell these types of dresses. I ended up going to an Alamo Heights boutique off of Broadway that sells really cute clothes for girls, pricey but we got the most beautiful linen (simple) baptismal dress...

It is a sacrament, not a fashion show. You should be more concerned with the religion/faith and not what the baby is wearing.

The following guidelines must be followed for baptism registration:

Parents:

Parents need to come to the parish office to register their child prior to the date of the preparation session (class). You must fill out the registration form and provide required paperwork. Incomplete paperwork does not reserve baptism date.

Parents must bring the Birth Certificate (Health Dept) of child.

Parents must bring a Letter of Permission from their parish. If you are not registered at a particular parish, you must bring a letter from the parish that belongs to you by boundaries.

Godparents:
Must be 18 years of age and if single must have Baptism, 1st Comm., & Confirmation Sacraments. (Must bring proof)

If married, must be married through the Catholic Church. (Must bring proof)

The registration fee is $40.

Parents and godparents are required to attend the preparation sessions.
If the godparents are from out-of-town they must provide certificate of attendance from their parish.

What church?? I will provide you with the guidelines for that particular church.
