Hi everyone,

i'm fairly new to this website and i was trying to find some information about relocating to SA. Unlike many of the military families moving into the area, i am single. does anyone have any suggestions as to what areas tend to be better for singles? I should probably caveat, that i am a city boy and enjoy the convenience of living there. however, there does not seem to be a real "city" feel to the downtown area, or at least from the type of apartments i've seen available for rent. (i hope no one takes offense to this). although i am military, i am not looking to move into an area where every neighbor i have is military as well, lol. does anyone know of good areas to check out? I was looking at apartments.com and it seems the places that look fairly decent all turn out to have crappy reviews!

can you tell us more about what you mean by city feel? what kind of features or criteria you are looking for in an area? other things like how much you're willing to spend on rent and how far you're willing to commute helps as well.

I went to college in SA (admittedly back in the dark ages) and if what you mean by a City feel is something like NYC or Chicago, then San Antonio probably doesn't have that feel even now. Although it has grown since I was there. But that doesn't mean you won't enjoy it. Part of the military experience should be experiencing something different than you're accustomed to.

It's really hard to find any apartments that don't have crappy reviews. People are much more likely to look for a way to complain when they're unhappy than they are to sign up somewhere just to leave a good review. At the same time, almost all apartment complexes manage to take decent photos and make the complexes look nice when they may not be. So it's difficult to find an apartment online.

I think the newer complexes on 151 between 1604 and 410 are pretty nice, and it would be a short commute.
