Default 2 days in SA: what would you do?

Hello everybody,
I'm going to visit San Antonio for the first time next week for a couple of days. Do you have any advice on what to visit, what 'has' to be done or seen in SA?
P.S. any nice seafood restaurant around? or other local/traditional food there?

Thank you in advance

One thing for sure is to check out the Alamo and river walk in the down town area. I guess the other would be sea world.

I'd definitely look at all the missions, not just the Alamo. Market Square is pretty tourist friendly too.

The Alamo for sure but I always recommend people see the Alamo movie at the Rivercenter IMAX (it's right near the Alamo) first. We took my WA cousin and didn't see the movie until afterwards. She said it would have made the Alamo mean more had she seen it before.

I wouldn't say SA is famous for it's seafood. For experience I'd suggest the Riverwalk (if you aren't melting by then ) or somewhere like Mi Tierra. I'm not a big mariachi fan myself but it's the true SA experience and I think you'd enjoy it. If you want to throw in some western experience you could always stop in at Cowboys nightclub and watch the bullriding. I saw those OC Desperate Housewives stopped in there and also went to a BBQ place that was pretty authentic. Can't remember the name although my brother took my husband before the boys and I got back to SA. Somewhere out I-10 toward Houston I think.

Texas BBQ is what the posted above is referring to.

Yes you have to do the Alamo and the Riverwalk just because that is what everyone knows about. As a local I prefer going to the Pearl Brewery area on the Riverwalk and then stroll along the Riverwalk there. On your stroll you will come to the VFW which is the Oldest Post in Texas. Go in and have a drink everyone is friendly. If you are curious about the Pearl Brewery area they do have a facebook page you can lookup. There are a few restaurants there. I have only been to LaGloria which is Street Mexican food which I really did like.

I'd go to the Fiesta Texas waterpark both days in a row and splash my self in so much water rides that it would have been as if I lived in the ocean.

avoid the usual tourist traps (alamo, riverwalk). its boring, played out, not fun. sure, there are shops with gimicks, but there are better things to do.

with the heat, i would suggest something like splashtown, seaworld's water park that recently opened. lots of good shops and eateries at the quarry as well. PF changs is known for having exceptional service no matter what location you visit (if youre in the mood for decent chinese food)

the alamo IMAX movie isnt a bad suggestion, but the actual alamo is pretty boring. an interesting fact about the alamo (may have changed due to legislation), but its address is listed as belonging to a sex offender.

neat huh?
