I've lived in Texas for three years and in that time have had 8 bad haircuts. I've finally realized that it's not that I've been unlucky or anything, it's just that what I am looking for isn't something that's taught here. All cosmetology schools are different and the best haircuts I've had were from California or the East coast, and overseas. Is there anyone out there who has trained outside of Texas? My hair is in the worst shape of my life and I really need a good haircut. If it matters, I'm African-American, and my hair is relaxed.

Thanks!

There's a gal in the salon my current hairstylists cuts in, sorry I don't know her name, but she is also Afro-American and she's always working on somebody. The salon name is Harmoni Salon, it's in the strip mall in front of Costco on 1604 & 281. I also have problem hair (Japanese hair, straight as a stick) so I'm always looking too...

It's not Texas. It's San Antonio. I don't understand it myself.

However, I finally started going to someone really good--Melissa at Hair Sonterra. She's not cheap, but she's good. She's one of the salon directors. She also does good color.
