I saw something very strange tonight. David Chancellor mentioned that an Oklahoma football player from SA will be out for roughly two months. Instead of mentioning that the team is a national championship contender (it's a preseason #1) and how his injury might impact that, he said that it might have implications for the Sooners' game against UT. I don't like OU much (if at all), but to put burnt orange glasses on that (or any story) is pretty unprofessional, in my opinion.

I watched it and am sure he mentioned that OU was ranked 1 and that the injury may impact that before the commercial break and then came back to talk about the OU game. Don't get so bothered about that sort of thing, the UT/OU game is HUGE here in TX and being that we're 60 +/- miles away from Austin it wouldn't surprise me that that is a story. We also don't hear much about the Texans, or any other team outside of the Spurs, the Longhorns and the Cowboys.

It's because T. Lewis' return is expected at the same time as the often most important big 12 south rivalry game (though OSU will likely be a bigger threat to OU this year).

Yeah, I may have missed what he said before the break.

I know that it's an extremely minor issue compared to the national economy, debt, Afghanistan, etc., but I would think that UT/OU this year isn't as big as it normally is to the casual fan, esp. since the match-up is so lopsided on paper, as OU is loaded on both sides this year while UT only appears to be as good on defense, by most accounts.

On your last point, to me, sportscasting here would be an endless Groundhog Day...

Yeah, I hope he gets better in a short amount of time. You hate to see injuries like that.
