Homeowner uses hunting rifle to stop home intruder|WOAI: San Antonio News
The intruder is in critical condition. Won't they ever learn?

Hope they do before they try to come in my house!

I doubt he tried to break in after he heard the homeowner talking. Highly doubt it unless he was barred out.

Story is sorta weird...

Guy hears a noise, goes to the door and asks the guy breaking into his house what he wants.

The intruder ignores the homeowner who gets his rifle and shoots him....

Wouldn't you think if someone is breaking into the house and is discovered they would run away?

They didn't say where the car was from, possible this intruder didn't realize he was in Texas and the Castle Doctrine rules here?

Ignorance of the law is no excuse..

I prefer to think of it as one of the all too few happy ending stories around here. Well, not totally happy ending, but at least headed in that direction.

Something suspicious here, the "alleged burglar" was driving a Mercedes 500 and had drug paraphernalia in the car. Maybe the idiot had the wrong house, or maybe he didn't; but I doubt this was simply a home invasion...

Still, all's well that ends well! I hope he survives; but with painful, debilitating reminders of his stupidity!

It was reported on the nine o'clock news on KABB just moments ago that the Mercedes that the intruder was driving was stolen. As to why that particular house was targeted, at this point, it appears to be random, according to the report.

You would if you're assuming they're not suffering from withdrawls or high as a kite. It's not unusual to find that a person trying to rob a house is after funds to buy drugs. Who knows what state of craaaaccked out they could be in?

Does all the rhetoric really matter? He broke into someone's house and got shot(and from the news stories, he was INSIDE the house). end of story. He's lucky to be alive.

Good. There is one of two lessons to be learned from this story.

A) Don't break into someone else's home

or

B) Don't get so high that you don't realize you're breaking into someone else's home

Either way, no sympathy. Hope that it hurts.
